upwardly_mobile_home asked: Where I shoot is kind of peculiar. They have a range that is 50/100/200 yard lanes for up to .22 LR. (...)

upwardly_mobile_home asked:

Where I shoot is kind of peculiar. They have a range that is 50/100/200 yard lanes for up to .22 LR. The 50 yard lanes are also OK with handguns up to about .40 S&W or .357 Magnum, maybe .45 ACP, the berm isn't more than about 24" thick at the top (about 8' tall) They have a range for skeet/trap/clays. They have an open range for airguns and a wooded one for air rifle field target (very popular). There is no place for center-fire rifles. Members have a reciprocating agreement with a range about 15 miles away for center-fire. A lot of their members come to our range for field target (very popular) and air rifle. They aren't to use other parts of the range because they have that at their facility. Likewise, we can only use the range's 100/200/300 yard centerfire lanes. I have a .17 HMR Mossberg 817 with a Tasco 3-9×32 scope. The rifle is a neat little rifle. I can't shoot it at my range. I have to drive 20 minutes in the opposite direction to use it. I can't use my Mossberg 500 at this other range. It makes me mad, because I enjoy field target at my range too. My friend has a Stevens/Savage 305 in 22 WMR and comes with me to shoot.
I am trying to convince the board of my club that .22 WMR and .17 HMR are OK on the 200 yard range (or even the 100 yard range) and that if the berm is good enough for .40 S&W, its good enough for us.
Any tips? Anyone see a reason I'm not for their discrimination towards .22WMR and .17HMR? Thanks for reading this long ramble. Hope it made some sense.

Amy

TT asked:

I entered the freeway onto the left lane in downtown Columbus, OH and needed to exit the next exit on the right. Traffic was heavy, it was dark & little rainy. Traffic was varying between 15 and 35mph and the exit lane was stopped and backed up before the place I got on. I saw a police car merge on from the berm (where he had just written another ticket) His blinker was on as well as his roof lights. I slowed down (He says I came to a stop - I'm not sure this is true) to let him over so that I could take his spot in line. He slowed also then chirped his horn by now he had 2 car lengths between him and the car in front of him. I thought he was being nice and got over. Next thing I know I'm getting a ticket for going too slow on the freeway. There was about 6-8 car length space between me and the vehicle in front of me before I merged. I will lose 1 days wages plus $120 for the fine if i lose. I also understand I will have to pay court costs.

Carlos

Unfortunately she can also jump a 6ft privacy fence. We adopted her a couple of months back, taken her to generic training classes, rigged the top of the fence with lattice & yet she treats the fence like a berm on a BMX track. Does anyone have any advice on how to deter her or the squirrels without harming any of the parties involved? Pellet guns are not an option!

Unidentified asked:

I live in Houston, which is hot and humid day and night during the summer. The point of earth berms or partially underground building is so the earth stores the heat and warms your house. In my case, this is the last thing I want. Are winters are mild, so I would rather deal with the cold of winter than the summer heat.
Any ideas of designs that would compliment this type of climate or is it pointless here?

Bonnie

The Real Shaz 3 asked:

If this after photo was taken on sunday what happened to all the refuse that would have been on site? Also the military had reported that the LTTE had moved behind another berm/moat construction with civilians on the 7/8 th this also does not look like the roadway configuration of where civilians were camped on the 4/5. The LTTE keeps pushing civilians back into further bermed areas and if the military declared a new abbreviated safe zone as they have done twice recently a consideration must be given to the veracity of this image. Isn't there a process called match-print that is supposed to be utilized prior to the release of this kind of material? This could very well be at any site in the world. I am saying this because I remember the same type of images (later proven false) in Iraq.

smilingeyes_momof3 asked:

DC Games Concert Seating?
So I got tickets for this year but am so confused about how seating works..and ys I CALLED the stadium but no one there could tell me how it was going to be done…other event staff are handling it.

but the tickets are kinds of crazy…none of the rows/seats are anywhere near each other and the guy at the ticket window said it didn't matter…the tickets were just for general admission. There were supposed to be field or seats as choices so you would free for all I guess based on who gets int he gate first??? but anyhow - my tickets says lawn. So I don't know if this means we have to be in the side lawn berm type area…or if lawn means we can also go for the field seats? The staff didn't know…but curious about someone's experience with last year?

I really wish it was just assigned seats…I **** chaos and with all the kids that will be there it will surely be nothing but chaos…the line starts forming 3 hours before the doors opens - I know that…now that is just nuts!
I called Champion Stadium for Wide World of Sports and they couldn't transfer me to anyone who knew anything…the games themselves don't have field seating…so if you went to the games you have to be in the grandstand….we didn't make it to those cause of school and work and this is our first time with the concert…so who knows what will happen.

Rita

Calamitty asked:

Okay do you agee with this new finding? It's from my EQUUS magazine April 2007…

Commonly thought that walking a colicky hose is critical, if he lies down and rolls he may trist a gut. No scientific basis for this notion. Most cases, walking is unnecessary, may be inadvisle, it can exhaust and make amtters worse. As long as the horse is quiet, it's all right to let them lie or stand still. Two situation in which walking may benefit, when at risk of injury or thrashing in pain. It's not necessary to keep him moving as long as you can keep him on his feet. Second a horse with loud, gurgling gas colic. Walking up and down a steep empbankment, a roadsie, berm or the six foot tamp of a horse van, may cause his abdominal organs to slosh back and forth enough to disperse the gas. Lead him uo and down the embankemnt for 10 mins, then assess his situation. Repeat two or three times and you'll have a good indication of the effect of the effort. Still in pain call the vet.

Raul
