Earthship house design question?
Unidentified asked:
I am interested in building an earthship style house with 10' high walls. Does anyone know how thick the reinforced concrete walls would have to be to support the weight of the berm up against it (want to do 10' berm on 3 sides of house)? I am looking for a general idea to decide if this is even feasible before paying a structural engineer to get the details of the project. Also, what if I want to support a second story made out of wood without a berm above it? Thanks.

Thanks for the wood idea. I am still wanting to go with concrete for the waterproofing, fireproofing, and natural longevity of my house, but thanks for the info.

sorry i cant give you any technical information but do you realize concrete is one of the worst co2 emitters out there, when you take in to account the manufacture process
For wall like car tyres filled with rammed earth and then the walls are not load bearing see walter segal method or ben law woodland house.
The houses are so futuristic wish could afford one.
